Information about keywords and description Meta Tags
Meta Tags are a kind of instruction to the search engine reading a web page. Meta Tags always go in the header (between the <head></head> tags) of a page.
Two kinds of Meta Tags let the owner of a page retain some control over how their page is indexed in a search engine.
These two are:
Keywords provide a list of possible search terms for the page to be indexed under.
Description gives a description to display when a user finds your page, rather than the first 200 characters or so.
They are fairly simple to use, and look like this:
<meta name="keywords" content="software, free downloads">
<meta name="description" contents="This page contains a list of the best free software on the web.">
There is some controversy over whether or not to use commas in the keywords. Usually they are ignored, and it is considered better not to use them, if a person were to search for software free downloads, your page would score if it had “software free downloads” instead as separate keywords, like software, free downloads.
Notice: Remember that keywords and keyword phrases are not case sensitive.
Make keywords work double duty
This is an easy technique that can be used to increase the effectiveness of some keywords. Whenever appropriate add an "s" to the end of the keyword.
Example: If your site is about cars and one key phrase is "car sales", then add an "s" to the end of "car".
By doing so your page will be found for both: "car sales" and "cars sales".
Since some people will use plural when searching, while others will use singular.
